Welcome to Week 1

Welcome everyone! Oh, it is so wonderful to see so many friends and also so many fabulous new people who are about to become friends. What a great place the blogosphere is, that we can be in a creative community, sharing an amazing adventure from our own little spot on the map. We are in this chaotic, playful, delicious experience together. May it help all of us shine brighter, stretch farther and laugh louder.

As a part of the Wreck this Journal experience, I'm trying vlogging for the first time. I really hope you enjoy this way of connecting each week. It's giving me another opportunity to bust out, try something new and make mistakes!

And before we head out into this week, I want to share a little secret with you. And I really want you to keep this close to your heart and remind yourself of it whenever you need to: there's no way to get it wrong. None. Nada. Whatever you do on this journey is absolutely perfect - so leave your worries at the door and play!

We're going to have ourselves some fun!

  17. I'm totally scared to wreck a book, so I'm very happy that you put it in the light of fulfilling the book's purpose. I certainly want to help others (even books) achieve their purpose.

I just found out about all this last night and will be stopping at the book store tonight to try to get my copy. This sounds like amazing fun! Can't wait to start!

  18. it took me a long time to visit all the blogs listed here, but it was worth it. Now i better visit my book:)

  19. Jamie, would it be possible to delete my link here please? #11.

After reading other entries I completelly changed my plan. :D *manic laughter*
Just the thing to do, steer the way 180ยบ and go somewhere else on the first day.

  20. Oh expletives! Stupid me! I've been looking on Starshyne main blog all day to see if anything was posted yet ~ I was determined not to be one of the last to post, and just forgot all about the other site.

So, I'm on catch-up now .... still really excited.

  21. Well, here I am, ready to go and giggling nervously. Thanks for permission to fall and to feel foolish - and I loved the video!

  22. Thank you for your encouraging and uplifting video, Jamie! I'm so excited about starting this! I'll be checking out everyone's posts later tonight when I'm at home.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yaay, it started!
I might have accidentally linked to my whole blog (which is exactly what you said we shouldn't do), but I promise I'll remember to do it right next week!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ok, I put in the correct link. Thanks!

  26. I love seeing you on video. You are as beautiful outside as you are inside, and that's saying alot!
Thanks for the skating story and for the inspired realization that we are "helping this book fulfill its purpose"! Only you could have come up with that.
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  27. I too love seeing you on video:) Thanks for starting us on (another) great journey. My poor journal(lol)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yay!! I just stumbled upon this today, but I am SOOO excited for this! I am totally OCD when it comes to my precious books and can't stand it when I order something from Amazon and it shows up with a little fold in the corner or some other "imperfection"... ;) So this sounds right up my alley!

    Looking forward to this :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. You are SO adorable, and have totally inspired me to start vlogging (is that the word? If not, I don't care)! I'll absolutely be switching up my Wreck This Journal posts with video & photos, so that is super awesome. You rock!

And BTW, I think "Fall on your bum" should be the tagline for this club. "Wreck This Journal: Fall on your bum." Says it all!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I am so excited! I have done several pages today and WOW!! FUN!! My 11 year old daughter wants her own journal to wreck now!! :) ...I really hope to meet new people on this journey to get "wrecked" with!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Absolutely - it's official The Next Chapter policy: It's never too late to join!

    ReplyDelete
  32. When you said by doing this, you are helping this book fulfill it's purpose, I breathed a little sigh of relief. So I AM doing something good in destruction. Okay, okay, I'm in.

    ReplyDelete
  33. wild destruction, good video but I am still waiting for the book but its all good ...Welcome back ..my creativeblog for the book club is now open lets put the herbal tea on....

    yay!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wah hoo! I am so looking forward to doing this....working through the fear...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jamie, you're adorable. I'm excited and scared and not brave enough to drip coffee on my pretty book yet, but I'm sure I'll get there!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Day 1 was pretty illuminating. Now I'm off to read about everyones experiences so far. This is fun!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is a great idea! Just what the doctor ordered...I need to break the monotony. Looking forward to having fun you all!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks so much for the fun, inspiring, and encouraging intro! I already know the very first thing I'm going to do with my journal - take a big red magic marker and write "A+" on the cover - because I intend to EXCEL at WRECKING and following directions to BREAK OUT of my boxes! (How is that for anal-retentiveness under the guise of creative rebellion?)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi everyone! I put my post up much later than I intended- sorry for the confusion. My week 1 write up is now posted at http://sherrileigh.wordpress.com/2009/06/05/wreck-this-journal-week-1/

Just got the book today and already mildly obsessed!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am so excited to work on this creative project with everyone. I've been away from blogging for awhile ... what a great way to get back into posting again. Looking forward to seeing everyone's creative ideas to wrecking their journals. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I posted about my anticipation...I'm kinda nervous! I am an English teacher, so wrecking a book feels very "wrong". Looking forward to the journey and adventure...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm nervous but stoked! Thanks for the welcome post! I look forward to this journey with other journal-wreckers. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have made no progress because I have no book! I wish it would hurry up and get here... My impatience and curiousity have made me hunt on line though and I have found some sites with wonderful pictures which I found inspiring and comforting....

    ReplyDelete
  44. I too am waiting for my book. I just joined after watching Creative Every Day's Leah and Jamie's video blogs or vlogs. They were encouraging and tantilizing. I so need to break the rules and try something destructive. I can't wait! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I signed up again - first time didn't take. Hopefully, I'm official now. :)

  46. I am so excited about this. Jamie your video has given me the courage I need to go against my better insticts and break all the rules (I hope) lol!!! I did make a mistake and post the link to my fll blog but I promise to do it right next time (smile). Thanks for the permission to color out side the lines!

    ReplyDelete
  47. This is going to be fun but takes me out of my comfort zone. How many pages can we do in a week? This is where my follow-the-rules mentality really kicks in and I want to have more instructions. Because, you know, I might not do it right, he,he :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Testing. Seems I have problems posting.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Teri Leigh, great question. Our final posting will be Friday July 31st. However much you want to do weekly between now and then is entirely up to you and your muse :)

  50. I have heard about and even had a copy of this book in my hands several months ago while at Barnes and Noble. I giggled and showed Wreck This Journal to my husband saying I wanted to buy it one day. Then yesterday I sort of stumbled upon this blog, learned about this online 'book club' and then hot-tailed it back to the book store to buy a copy! So I'm joining you gals and I think it will be a lot of fun!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm in, or up, or something. I kind of got lost but I might be found. Anyone else?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Loved your video and although I haven't bought the book, I think it's something I want to jump in and do with all of you. I have been reading a lot of blogs and this sounds amazing!~

    ReplyDelete
  53. There's no mr linky, but I did something and posted it, so I'll put it here, ok?

  54. I just got the book today, and I haven't had the chance to do much but lip through it. I think I may have already messed up my mr linky. Though I'll try to do better next time : )
I may make another post later tonight though, after I get a chance to do a few pages.

  63. I really, really need to get beyond dial up and get DSL - video without it is impossible. And I need to start paying attention to mental notes, calendars and all those things I've always felt inhibit true creativity - I ALMOST missed it! And I have sooooooooooo missed the inspiration so abundant here!
